Mary married Joseph F. Dobbelsteyn in October 1957, and They have one son, Michael, and three daughters, Brenda, Nancy and Cheryl.  Mary and Joe are delighted that they are also the grandparents of six grand boys.

She has been a member of St. Dunstan’s Parish Council CWL since 1960.  In the early years, she was not a very active member during the years of raising a family, being the owner of a Beauty Salon for 24 years, and caring for her aging parents.  She volunteered for the Alzheimer’s Society of Fredericton for a number of years, and held the position of Treasurer.

Upon retirement, she accepted the position of Treasurer of St. Dunstan’s CWL for four years.  She then looked after Membership for a number of years.  In 2000, she held the position of Education & Health Chairperson and in 2002 became President of her Council.  As Past-President, she again took charge of Membership for another few years.  She is involved with the Funeral Committee, taking turns doing Funeral receptions for our deceased members.  She chaired the Spring Luncheon & Fashion Show for three years and assisted for one year.  The Supper Bridge was another function she co-chaired for 5 years.

She serves on the Altar for Funerals for St. Dunstan’s Parish and assists with preparing the Parish collection envelopes each year.  In 1994-97 she was a member of the Finance Committee, and served as Secretary for one year.

In 2004, she let my name stand as a Chairperson for the Saint John Diocesan Council CWL and became 2nd vice-president and Chairperson for Communication & Public Relations.  In 2006, she was 1st vice-president and Chair of Spiritual Development, 2008 Chairperson of Organization and President-elect, and became President in May 2010.
